As a mage, he was a contender as First in his Clan along with another mage, and they often trained together in healthy competition for the title. He was well liked by his Keeper and his Clanmates, and was proud in his culture and religion, though he didn't always pray quite as much as he should have.When Nebro was 17, his younger brother, Laisal was outcasted for endangering the Clan with his vitriol for their beliefs and their way of life. At 22, Laisal returned. By that point, Laisal had been fully indoctrinated into a cult dedicated to Fen'Harel, and attempted to uproot the clan's beliefs with his rhetoric. A fight broke out, and to protect his Clan, Nebro himself fought against his brother, nearly killing him. Instead, one of Laisal's attacks hit their younger sister, Leah, who did not survive.This act destroyed the harmony in his Clan and altered the course of Nebro's life. Blaming both Laisal and Fen'Harel for what had happened, he gave up his aspirations of being First, staying with his Clan for only a few more years to mourn with them before setting off to tack Laisal and his cult down.He followed the trail all the way to Arlathan Forest, where he ran into Varric, learned the true identity of the Dread Wolf and what he has planned for the world, and vowed to help him stop Solas, whatever it takes.
